End of “rain year” approaches

Here we are close to the end of another Rain Year!

In south Florida,
Our current Rain Year ends on April 30th.
The new one starts the next day on May 1st.

As arbitrary as that cut-off point may seem,
It’s actually quite strategic:

It lets us organize the 365-day total into two halves:

  • Wet Season (May through October) and
  • Dry Season (November through April).

Otherwise, if you go by the traditional Calendar Year,
The annual total is a mix of two separate dry seasons.

(That’s what the newspapers go by.)
