Excellent question: and yes I do. My wife is a Belgium native, and speaks fluent French and German — not to mention being well versed in the universal language: musical notations.

I can actually read French better than speak it. There’s actually a lot of English words infused in the French language — or rather, just the opposite. Thanks to the 1066 invasion of England from French-speaking Normandy that temporarily switched the “official language” of England to French.

But that was only short lived edict, as many are (you cannot change the will of the people). Everyone eventually reverted to English, with a good chunk of new words borrowed from the French dictionary.

That made a new and improved and much more powerful version of the English language, just in time for Shakespeare to use.
