Here’s a short video clip of water flowing over the Faka Union weir at the Port of the Islands, shortly after Fay. A fisherman alerted me to the presence of some very large manatees just downstream of the weir. They were apparently feeding on all the hydrilla floating down in the current. I’m not a manatee expert, but they did look big … and well fed. The one shown in this video had what appeared to be a new propeller scar.
