Florida does have a Groundhog Day …
Only it doesn’t fall on February 2nd.
|Up North, Groundhog Day marks the onset|
of the continental “spring blues” just as Labor Day
marks the onset of south Florida’s “fall funk”
South Floridians would love for it’s winter-like weather to last for as long as possible. It’s the summer, not winter, that never seems to end.
That makes Labor Day Florida’ Groundhog Day proxy.
Whereas Labor Day signifies summer’s end on the continental part of the United States, south Floridians can resign themselves to 6 more weeks of grueling summer weather (i.e. heat, humidity, afternoon showers and hurricane watch).
And that’s guaranteed, shadow or not.
