Halfway there

The rains may have stopped, but our waters are still flowing out in the swamps — as sheetflow — and also in any open channels that it can find (see video). Those flows will eventually “wind down” as the water cycle marches on farther into the winter dry season.

The video clip was filmed at the headwaters of Halfway Creek in Big Cypress National Preserve in Collier County, Florida.  Halfway Creek got its name because downstream where its tailwaters spill out into the Ten Thousand Islands is “halfway” between Everglades City and Chokoloskee Island.
