I crawled around Okeechobee, its dams, and its southward bound canals back in the 90s. It’s a huge lake, but the midges were pretty annoying – the birds seemed to love it though.

Be glad you don’t get the lake levels we get – 16-18 feet below normal in the late summer. Then the ongoing battles with AL and FL over the trickle of pharmaceutical and sewage laden water that the Chattahoochee becomes south of Atlanta. I bet those FL mussels aren’t suffering from ADD – although a few may commit suicide on cloudy days. Wheee…
