It is sort of baffling Ciss, I agree. It only looks bumpy when the vertical scale is severely exaggerated, as shown in the three dimensional map. As flat as the swamps look at first, once you get to walking around in it during any season, you can easily discern the lay of the land (deep spots and high ground) by where the water is.
