If you thought tracking freshwater was tough,
Try tracking salt water tides in southwest Florida.
One the one hand, the variation isn’t all that great, only a few feet.
But it’s inconsistent from day to day.
“High highs” are mixed in with “low lows” and interspersed with “low highs” and “high lows.”
To be honest, I still don’t understand it.
On this particular day in mid May I caught a “low low.”
In my opinion its the best time to be there. The tidal pools are ripe for wading and the flats are smooth for walking.
If I could set my schedule by the tides (isn’t that everyone’s dream), I’d synchronize my beach arrivals with the double lows …
So long as they are at a reasonable hour.
