Two trends were note worthy:
(1) Flooding was greatest on the lower-lying bay-side of the barrier beach island. (2) Older houses not built to the new code suffered the most damage.
Could it have been worse?
That brings us a third. An extensive dune system in Ocean City help brunt the blow. (3) Towns without dunes also sustained more damage on the beach-side, too.
