Over here on the east coast, we get that oppressive SW wind that brings in the heat right before we get the cold front. I don't have hard data, but after 30 years living here, I know the difference in the heat before cold vs. summer heat. It'll be hot as hades one minute, then the front moves in and you can feel the wind change direction, speed and temperature! It's pretty amazing!
