Here’s a photo shot in the same cypress dome (and knee):
Left during late summer and right during mid winter.
The big difference obviously is the water.
If you look closely on the winter photo (right) you can still see a small pool of water in the middle of the dome. This dome is not typical of all domes in Big Cypress National Preserve. It tries down earlier than most because it is not as deep in its center and it is located not too far from a water draining canal.
Lots of animal tracks around that water line.
