Sort of over, but not yet

The dry season numbers are in

Even though the drought isn’t over yet.

This year’s dry season qualified
as “dry” (pink) by historic standards,
whereas last year’s was “wet” (aqua)

The reason?

May is a shoulder season month. It’s first half is usually reliably dry, followed by a second half of increasing rains.  For that reason, dry season rainfall tally runs for the 6-month span from November 1st to April 30th of each year.

Any precipitation from this point forward counts as “wet season” rain.
