Sounds like you covered lots of “ground” and “water” … and the large swath that is a little of both … our wetlands. But as you witnessed, our wetlands are more “ground” than “water” these days with the seasonal drought in high gear. There’s lots to see along Tamiami Trail, and I would agree: the best stretch is from Naples to Miami, especially the part through the Big Cypress Swamp. I just gave a presentation on south Florida hydrology at Naples Preserve by the way. It’s a very interesting building architecturally. It’s a little piece of old Florida
