Sweet shaggytuft

Stenandrium dulce is another plant that flowers profusely soon after fire in wet pinelands and prairies. It is apparently prone to alliterative common names because it is also known as pineland pinklet. The plant is somewhat reminiscent of a violet, but is not a close relative; it is a member of the Acanthus family like pineland petunia, featured in the first native plant photo posted on Oct. 12, 2007.
