(1) We have the driest dry season in Florida, and yes, you are right, our driest time and season we get most of our wildfires is spring, just before the wet season cranks back up.

(2) It’s a typical case of the (saw)grass always being greener on the other side of the levee: North Florida gets the first of the cold fronts, but south Florida is the climate that all the snowbirds flock to come winter. Each has its advantages.

(3) Yes, you are right, it is a really special state, then and now. And so many people seem to have fond memories of it.
