(1) Dani, for me, I have always been captivated by its hydrology. The interaction of earth, sky, and water makes this place a hydrologist’s paradise, especially during the summer wet season when the water takes center stage. But it’s a tough nut to crack too (in a good way). I consider it a back (and more accessible) door to the Everglades.
(2) Great call (and great eye) on the dragonfly. And yes, you are right, the cypress trees “stay” but the high water doesn’t: come mid November the wetting front will be on its way down on its long march into the dry season.
