(1) Lilly, we have a similar situation out west on the Colorado River at Lake Meade (not too far from Las Vegas). It’s dropped around 100 ft over the past 9 years. It’s currently holding around half its 28 million acre feet capacity. Sorry about the non-metric units!
(2) Hi Gail, that’s a good term for it. More and more we’re seeing restrictions and pricing controls being placed on water, as a way to promote conservation. There’s a new mindset spreading among our communities that conservation is not just an ethical consideration (i.e., “don’t wast water”), it’s our “new source” of water that we need to inversely tap.
