Thanks for your comments, especially considering how geographically spread out they are across the globe: Australia, England, and up in the Carolinas.

I’ve never been to Australia, but I am acquainted with its natural history through Tim Flannery’s seminal “The Future Eaters,” who incidently also wrote a great natural history of North America as well called “The Eternal Frontier,” also one of my favorites.

As for England, that’s a place that, as a hydrologist, I would love to visit. Especially to see the moors.

And I’m not all that familiar with South Carolina either … other than the prolonged drought the southeast has been battling.
