Jim Snyder is the author and photographer of all posts under the “Native Plant Photos” label.

I must say that the orchid really jumps off the screen. The photo has a sort of 3D effect set against the blurred lines of the cypress in the background.

And yes, its funny how anything gets its name. There’s always a story behind it, and a list of other aliases that find favor depending on who you talk to.
