That's a good point Betsy. The big innovation in recent years has been telemetry and the internet. That makes the data available in "real time" and practically at our fingertips.
More than ever that allows us to track the water cycle as it unfolds, as opposed to the "old way" — going out a week or month later to collect the data by hand.
We're fortunate here in south Florida to have such a high interest and financial commitment to measuring the water. That's not the case in many other areas.
