The idea that the Keys get no cold air from up north is a fallacy. Last winter saw a low of 42 and the record is 41 and I can't tell the difference.
Every winter sees lows around 50, at least once and not for long usually and the periods in between the cold snaps are decidedly pleasant. The Keys see no frost but that doesn't mean that we can't tell the difference between summer heat and a fall chill. Ask the visitors whose long anticipated week vacation falls on a blusterous, wet, gray cloudy cold front week. That's the week I wish I were in the Virgin Islands.
