This used to be a mineral spring, but people were afraid that the sulfur was getting into the aquifers and drinking water, so they put a cap on it. It was also damaged by several hurricanes. I used to slide down what you saw in the second picture as a child. They reopened the park, but the spring is still capped I believe. It used to be slippery, covered in algae and smelt like eggs. There were also alligators in the lake below, but it was fun.
