“Thumb on hose” effect

Here’s what 600 cfs at the S-333,

And 300 cfs at the S-12D look like.

I had to look hard to see if water
was even flowing through the six gates of the S-12D.

Compare that to the single-gated S-333
with water gushing through.

In technical hydrologic terms
we call that the “thumb on the hose” effect.
