Where we’re from has such resonance and meaning, after all. I grew up in Central Texas, with some fall color from Spanish oaks, sumacs, and a few other species. In California, as a student, the wet winter and dry summer created a foreign, but then familiar, pattern.
But I’m happy to be in the midst of Eastern deciduous forest fall color now.
My gardening companion and I spent a decade of summers earlier in our ‘careers’ doing research at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, in Edgewater, MD, and had many wonderful excursions to Little Italy, and elsewhere in the Inner Harbor.
Cheers,
Lisa
