The pitch black arrow shows the current parchedness level (P0 being the wettest and P5 being the driest), the dark gray arrow for a month ago and the light gray arrow for a year ago today. It depends where in the Everglades you mean.
Water Conservation Area 3A is corn-on-the-cob soaking wet with butter (but not as wet as corn chowder soup as it typically would be this time of year) and Water Conservation Area 2 is in the dry cornbread phase in which peat is patchily flooded but still hydric.
No area has dropped into the two driest phases.
They are represented on the chart above by the plate of mostly dry chips surrounded a quickly disappearing bowl of salsa (i.e. the low water refugia) and — the driest phase — a bowl of popcorn in which even the dry-season refugia pools go dry.
